Do you feel a draft?

Not yet you don't. But 13 days from now you will. When it comes it'll feel like receiving a hundred reacharounds from a hundred specially programmed rub-bots, or winning $10 on a scratch ticket.

Fact is, the draft is a lot of preparation for not much payoff. Once you finally get past the five-hour round and the event's true second and third round drama begins, you've already used up every dram of spousal capital that enabled you to watch even that much. So your team makes a big move for more picks while you take in "What Not to Wear."

Anyway. We love it still, because we're fans, because we want to see our teams draft ill-tempered manchildren with personal issues and nothing whatsoever to share with society other than the ability to play professional football. So here are some good sites for pre-draft coverage:

Great Blue North Draft Report

I love this site. Not only are they conscientious, but I think Canadian as well. Swede.

NFL Draft Countdown

Nice photos with the mock draft, even if they do have some audio ads embedded. Effers. These guys have some crazy opinions, and the closer you get to the draft you the less crazy they might seem: like Adam Carriker going in the top 10. Dunno if it will happen, but...

Football's Future

A typical draft site, way too busy with the graphics but loaded with info. Affiliated somehow with Great Blue North, looks like a gawkermedia site. (As you might have noticed, you too could find these sites by googling "NFL Draft '07." But you came here instead, and I thank you for it.)

The NFL at Scout.com

Sounds like Amvescap. "at Scout.com"? Whatev. Still, they offer some pretty in-depth stuff, if reading in-depth stuff about potential fourth-round defensive tackles is your thing. Like it is mine. But I'm lame.

Nearly every mock I see has Denver taking one of three people: Anthony Spencer, DE from Purdue (which I would cream my silken man-thong over), Adam Carriker (not gonna happen, and besides, Nebraska players are nearly always overrated) or Florida DE Jarvis Moss. Moss is clearly the most popular pick.

Most of 'em had us taking a corner before Bly, too--so these opinions need liberal salt. I do believe that we're taking a lineman or a linebacker. Spencer would be effin' great. We do still have a fairly large hole in our second line, so maybe a guy like Florida State's Buster Davis would be an option.

The Denver Post suggested today that we have an interest in Michigan's David Harris, but the week before ran a story that claimed the Broncos' front office never tips their hand as to who they like. In fact, they seem to do the exact opposite. From what I've read, this seems to be the case--Cutler was supposedly shocked that they made a move for him. The Post, evidently, does not read The Post.

I hear the Broncos have an keen interest in Ball State safety Buster Nutley. And there's also a receiver who matriculated at Oral Roberts name Peter Goazinia.
