Best Story of the Offseason So Far

Washington Redskins rookie defensive back LaRon Landry got shot in the bozack by a teammate with a paintball gun. If you've ever had the experience of getting a paintball in a sensitive area, you can sympathize with Mr. Landry's predicament.

Beyond that, proof of the universal humor inherent in the situation. Rich man, poor man, yak herder from Upper Mongolia or pin-striped banker from Frankfurt, every guy hears something like this and does two things: 1. he cringes in phantom agony and 2. enjoys a hearty chuckle.

Per NFL.com:

"I didn't know paintball was that dangerous," linebacker Marcus Washington said. "I hope it wasn't friendly fire."

Oh, by the way. My wife just made an oven-fresh cherry pie from scratch. Suck on that shit, you couch-bound internet supernerds, with your Lay's and your 8-pack of Dr. Pepper.

Cherry Pie? I think only of the music video ... she was hot.

Enjoy your tart, ol' chap. Care for a spot of tea, do you?

Ah yes, Cecil ol' boy, in reponse to your basketball "coverage" entitled "The LeBrons":

You don't make it to the NBA finals without playing team basketball. Why did LeBron get to the rim so easily in his masterful 4th quarter and overtime burst? His teammates hit shots early. That's just easy ... team, ya see.

You cannot isolate one man from a team, and try to dissect it. He is, by defintion, part of that TEAM.

I still contend, as I did originally, that the LeBronless Cavs could beat the Celtics. I don't really think that's much of a stretch.

No cowboy? They made the finals. How do you pull that off with only a hat, man. They have to win best of 7 four times. That's just spiteful.

I think I know where the spite lies, and I don't blame ya. Tlae about hats? It's gotta hurt watchin' Carmello night in and night out and knowin' deep down inside it'll never happen. . It's okay that Carmello will NEVER do for the Nuggets what LeBron did for the Cavs in his FOURTH season at age 22 ... namely, lead them to an NBA finals. He's just not as good, and grabbin' Iverson was anything but a "team" move. I can understand that frustration well.

Good luck next season.

In repsonse to your June 1 piece "The Best Story Line Ever":

I hate the Pats, and Tom Brady makes me want to puke. (Peter King is nauseating. His unconditional love of the Pats is actually sad.)

However, their offseason was far better than you make it out to be. You're exactly right about Adalius. Well done.

However, you far underestimate how important Wes Welker will be for the Patriots. Just watch. Belicheck loves versatile players that work hard. Welker is a textbook Patriot and he will be rewarded well this year.

The addition of Stallworth AND Moss (on top of Welker) is an amazing task given that WR was a GLARING weakness. If even one of those three pans-out, the Pats achieve exactly what they hoped for ... improved play at the WR position. (What if ALL THREE pan out?) By loading their offseason as such, they have provided themselves with excellent odds to improve at a specific need.

That's what an offseason is all about ... taking a gamble and keepin' the odds in your favor.

That's just how it's done.

Let me reemphasize. I hate the goddamn Pats.
