Musings From Roy F. Almania: Meche, Sabathia Set Second-Half Stakes for Royals

Editor's Note: This post was put together by the cousin of yours truly. I can't vouch for him; he lives in Joplin, Missouri, was home-schooled (still lives with my aunt and uncle who, by the way, vacation in Arkansas every year), has never been west of Kansas City or north of Omaha or east of Jefferson City, and I'd imagine the only form, if any, of sex he's ever had probably shares some strains of DNA with the both of us. Nevertheless, we've given him the keys to the House twice before, and he's only managed to offend a small section of the world's population with his crass hillbillyisms. Until he offends say, a segment of the human race the size of China's population, we'll probably let the boy keep at it.

It's good bein' back into regular-season baseball. I reckon I don't aim to agree with everything Buddy Bell decides -- just pitch to Sizemore and make the kid try and hit -- for his boys in blue, but the start to the '07 campaign was better'n we seen in some time 'round these parts. But if you was to ask me, I'd say the real deal gets underway in Cleveland this evenin'.

C.C. Sabathia and all his first-half wins takes the mound, aimin' to make Dayton Moore's spending of Glass-family money look meager. That's right. Sabathia will the $55 million Gil Meche in a battle of aces. I reckon Buddy oughtta start John Buck behind the plate as Jason LaRue's bat ain't all that, not to mention he needs to do more things to make ol' Almania look good.

I'm curious to see how the Tribe fairs in the rest of this matchup, and I may just have a gander at their next road stand -- see if this Rustoleum character really knows his baseball. What's more, I'm certain to keep a keen eye posed on the young bats of Billy Butler and Alex Gordon as they promise to have a strong finish to the summer. Course, time will tell with them 'snappers, and the numbers they put up (assumin' they does) will likely seal the fate of the artist former known as the $55 million man, our captain, one Mike Sweeney. I'm rarin' to get this half underway, boys. Once the Royals leave Cleveland, they've got more strong clubs after that in the form of the Boston Red Sox and them damnable Yankees. This, as they say, is the real test, the PH, if you will. We're pumped as all get out down here in Joplin, and hopin' that the rest of the baseball world is, too.

So, let's play ball!
