Tradition Tuesday: Time For Change I

The rough focus of this blog is still the rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos, but this little school/church is my polling place. It's right around the corner from my house and on every voting Tuesday I walk over there to fill out my ballot. I've never before considered what time to vote; I just go and am gone in ten minutes. This morning, however, was a different story.

My wife and I arrived at 5:30 a.m., which I thought a bit silly. Of all the details surrounding this monumental election, I anticipated that the speculations surrounding record-turnout numbers to be a bit skewed. I mean, I knew lots of folks were interested like never before, but I didn't expect to see 70 people already in line in the dark when we got there.

And after we'd been standing there for nearly half an hour, I certainly didn't expect another 60-70 in line behind us.

Even more so, I didn't expect that line to be even bigger still after we'd emerged from inside.

It was, nonetheless, and that was pretty amazing. Somehow, it makes all of the hard work so many have put in to this campaign worth the while...

...I hope.
